Pre-care
Before your filler dissolvent appointment
Some swelling, redness and tenderness is common after dissolving filler, so leave some time before a special event or trip. We are happy to help you plan the timing.
- Tell us about any allergies, especially to bee or wasp stings, or if you have reacted to hyaluronidase before.
- Bring details of your previous filler if you have them, such as the product, the amount and when it was done.
- If you are prone to cold sores and are having lip filler dissolved, take valacyclovir within 24 hours of your appointment. If you do not have a prescription, let your nurse know and one can be arranged for you.
- No active infections or antibiotics within 2 weeks of your appointment.
- Do not book if you are travelling out of the country within 2 weeks of your appointment, so we are nearby if you have any concerns.
- Avoid blood thinners for 72 hours before. This includes Advil and other blood-thinning medications. Tylenol is OK.
- No alcohol, smoking, cigarettes or vapes for 24 hours before your appointment.
- Tell us about any changes to your health, medications or recent treatments.

Filler dissolvent aftercare FAQ
Why do you ask about bee or wasp sting allergies?
Hyaluronidase can rarely cause an allergic reaction, and people with bee or wasp sting allergies may be at higher risk. Telling us helps your nurse decide whether a test dose is needed and keeps you safe.
How quickly does filler dissolvent work?
Hyaluronidase breaks down hyaluronic acid filler. Most people see a difference within 24 to 48 hours, with the full result after a few days. Some areas need more than one session.
When can I have new filler?
We usually recommend waiting at least 2 weeks after dissolving before new filler, so the area can settle and your nurse can reassess. Your nurse will advise what is right for you.
When can I exercise after filler dissolvent?
Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours after your treatment.
Can I take Tylenol after my treatment?
Yes. Tylenol is OK. Avoid Advil and other blood-thinning medications for 72 hours after your treatment.
